SOLR private cloud

Q: Why are private environments important for Solr deployments?

With Solr Private Cloud, organizations benefit from: Scalability – provides an elastic and scalable search infrastructure that can be scaled up or down based on changing needs Customization – meets the specific organization needs including relevance, security and data ingestion High Availability – distributes search requests across multiple nodes Security – ensures that search data is protected Performance design – delivers high performance search results

Q: What is a Solr Private Cloud?

Solr Private Cloud is a distributed deployment option for Apache Solr, an open-source search engine platform. It allows you to create a highly available and scalable search infrastructure by distributing Solr instances across multiple servers, or nodes, in a cluster. In a Solr Private Cloud, you can create multiple collections of searchable data, each with its own configuration and replication factor. The data is automatically partitioned and distributed across the nodes in the cluster, providing high availability and fault tolerance.

Q: What is a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)?

A virtual private cloud (VPC) is a private network in the cloud that allows you to create and manage isolated virtual networks within a public cloud infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure. SearchStax supports Solr deployments on VPCs for AWS and Google Cloud.

Q: What is a Virtual Network (VNet)?

A VNet, or Virtual Network, is a logically isolated network infrastructure within a public cloud, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS). It enables you to create and manage virtual networks with the same capabilities and controls as a traditional network infrastructure but with the added benefits of cloud computing. SearchStax supports Solr deployments on VNet for Microsoft Azure Cloud.

SearchStax Managed Search lets you deploy Solr in a private environment to deliver powerful search while meeting isolation, architectural, and cloud policy requirements

Solr Private Cloud is ideal for applications that must conform to privacy and governance rules within regulated industries such as those with data confidentiality and other compliance needs over sensitive and confidential data

SearchStax Managed Search supports Solr Private Cloud for all of the major cloud providers

Amazon Web Services

SearchStax can provide Solr instances either within your own Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) or in a separate VPC

Google Cloud

SearchStax can provide Solr instances in a separate Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)

Microsoft Azure

SearchStax can provide Solr instances in a separate Virtual Private Network (VNet)

What does Solr Private Cloud look like?

The Solr Private Cloud is deployed in a Virtual Private Cloud or VPC for AWS.

The end result is that the operational aspects of managing Solr are handled in the SearchStax VPC without directly accessing your application in your own VPC.
