BuiltInLA has recognized SearchStax as one of the Best Places to Work in Los Angeles for 2024. This achievement showcases our efforts to create a great work environment and our position as a leading tech startup.

Best Places to Work Award Recognition

Our place on the “2024 Best Places to Work” list, in the “Los Angeles, CA Best Startups to Work For” category, means that BuiltinLA’s review shows both compensation and employer benefits at SearchStax are competitive.

BuiltinLA evaluates various categories such as Health & Wellness, Financial Planning & Stability, Flexible Work Environment, Diversity & Culture, and Professional & Social Impact, with each category contributing to the overall score. Our inclusion on this list reflects our dedication to offering comprehensive benefits and a supportive, inclusive culture that resonates with our core values and mission.

How Does SearchStax Do It?

SearchStax allows web teams to deliver powerful search in an easy, fast and cost-effective way using two core products. SearchStax Cloud provides managed Solr, and SearchStax Studio is a simple yet powerful site search solution.

SearchStax focuses on six core values for our team, including:

Customer Obsession: Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. We prioritize customer satisfaction and retention over acquisition.

Results Focused: We strive to achieve tangible results and deliver exceptional value to our clients. Our focus is on driving measurable outcomes and making a real impact.

Ownership: We take ownership of our work and hold ourselves accountable for our actions. Each member of our team plays a crucial role in driving our collective success.

Embrace & Drive Change: We welcome change that is good for the company instead of fearing it. We take a proactive approach to tackle change head first and help drive it.

Lead Humbly: We are self-confident, but remain calm and show kindness even in tough situations. We accept ambiguity, are open about it, and seek better information to make decisions.

Innovation & Continual Improvement: We challenge current methods or ways of doing things and propose better solutions. We stay nimble by simplifying things and removing complexity.

Each year, our employees in the United States come together for an all-team onsite that includes a review of the past year, a look ahead at the strategy and goals for the coming year, acknowledgement of those employees who went above and beyond, as well as a celebration to unwind and connect with team members outside the workplace.

New in 2024, several departments will also meet quarterly at the El Segundo office for in-person strategy and alignment sessions.

Reflection from Leadership

“Awards are great to show that we are on track with our benefits and alignment with other leading tech companies, but they are only a small part of our roadmap to actually making SearchStax a great place to work,” said Head of People Suchada Stevens.

“Our work is never done. Culture is a product. We believe in continuous improvement, iterating based on feedback, and ensuring that each version of our employee experience is better than the last. Being a start-up, there are always improvements to be made as we grow and mature as a company. We’re in a state of constant change and transformation.”

Stevens said the people team checks in with quarterly employee surveys to keep a pulse on how we’re doing and listen to what’s important to SearchStax employees.

Commitment to Employee Wellbeing and Growth

At SearchStax, we understand the importance of a supportive and flexible work environment. We are proud to be a remote-first company, embracing a diverse team across the United States and India, with collaborative workspaces in Los Angeles and Boston. This approach not only fosters diversity but also promotes a balance between professional growth and personal well-being.

We prioritize our team’s health and provide comprehensive healthcare benefits, covering 100% of employee-only premiums on select plans. This includes medical, dental, and vision plans, ensuring our employees have access to the best healthcare options.

In terms of career development, we are at the forefront of building cutting-edge open source and cloud technology. This provides opportunities for our team members to innovate and grow their careers within a dynamic and evolving tech landscape.

Competitive Compensation & Financial Benefits

We believe in sharing our success with those who contribute to it. Additionally, we support our employees’ future financial stability by offering up to a 4% match on 401k contributions.
