Why don't my collections appear in Pulse?

SearchStax users sometimes encounter a perplexing issue with Pulse Performance Monitoring. The lists of available collections may be empty, or be only partly populated.

SearchStax Enable JMX

If you see this behavior, check line 260 (approximately) of your solrconfig.xml file. This is the line that enables JMX in your Solr deployment

SearchStax Enable JMX

Well-meaning engineers sometimes comment out this line, thinking that it has no purpose. JMX must be enabled in order to push collection performance data to the SearchStax UI.
