What if Create Collection does not finish?
Welcome to SearchStax. Users sometimes report that a create-collection command failed with an inexplicable error. There can be various reasons for this.
For the most part, SearchStax users should create collections rather than cores. A "collection" is an index that is shared across servers in the cloud. A "core" is a local index on a single computer. In a SearchStax deployment, we usually deal with collections.
A user reported an error claiming that Solr could not locate solrconfig.xml. This user had wrapped the configuration files in an unexpected /conf/ subdirectory. Solr could not find them.
Another user had a problem with schema.xml. The team eventually determined that the schema file contained an illegal attribute. In this case it was a fieldtype entry configured with a multiValued property. This property can be applied to fields, but not to fieldtypes. Core creation failed as a result.
